Are you always looking in the mirror wishing your body looked better? You haven’t gained a ton of weight but perhaps due to aging or pregnancy, things look “bulgy.” And you’re unhappy with what you see. If, no matter what you do – eating healthy and getting plenty of exercise – it just isn’t moving, CoolSculpting® might be the answer.
What is Coolsculpting?
CoolSculpting is (literally) the coolest, most-innovative, non-surgical way to lose those annoying bumps and bulges of stubborn fat. By targeting, freezing and cooling unwanted fat cells in a selected area, those cells are broken down, processed by the body and eliminated. The procedure is called Cryolipolysis. You don’t lose weight, but you’ll see a noticeable, natural-looking reduction in the size and shape of the targeted area.
Unlike most methods of fat reduction, CoolSculpting involves no needles, surgery, anesthesia or downtime. It’s safe, FDA-cleared and effective. The natural-looking results can be seen six to eight weeks after treatment, with the most dramatic changes after one to three months.

Your Annapolis CoolSculpting Consultation
To learn if CoolSculpting is right for your body, start with a consultation with one of our doctors at our main office in Annapolis or one of our satellite offices in Easton or Prince Frederick. To determine if you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting, the consultation typically includes a discussion of:
- Your goals: why do you want CoolSculpting and what outcome are you hoping for?
- Your medical history and your lifestyle. You’ll talk about things like:
- Are you taking any prescription or nonprescription drugs and/or herbal supplements?
- Do you smoke?
- Have you had any previous surgeries?
- Your areas of concern. The doctor will examine, measure and evaluate those areas you think would benefit from CoolSculpting.
You’ll also discuss the procedure. You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions, so we recommend writing them down before the consultation. When you leave this meeting, you’ll know if CoolSculpting is right for you. If it is, you’ll leave with a plan for moving forward.

Understanding the CoolSculpting Procedure
Our doctors and nurses are trained to apply the CoolSculpting device to your area(s) of unwanted fat, correctly and for the precise amount of time. This noninvasive procedure requires no anesthesia and targets and eliminates unwanted fat cells safely and effectively.
First, they position the device on your body, drawing up your skin and subcutaneous fat (the fat just below your skin) between two cooling panels. You may feel a bit of pulling and cold for the first few minutes, but then your skin will grow comfortably numb. You’ll probably feel a firm pull and pressure, with enough pull to ensure the selected tissue is cooled appropriately. An hour or so later, depending on your needs (some choose to have multiple treatments), you’re done. The device is removed, and you can immediately return to your regular routine.
During the procedure, patients spend their time reading, watching TV, working on their laptops, or relaxing in our specially designed, comfortable, quiet treatment rooms.
After CoolSculpting: Recovery and Results
CoolSculpting is completely non-surgical. Some patients experience redness, minor bruising, tingling, numbness or discomfort on or around the treated area, but that’s temporary and resolves completely. Any bruising, swelling or tenderness goes away in a few days.
The result is a slimmer and trimmer silhouette. When you eliminate fat cells, they don’t return. Those left behind can get larger or smaller, but with CoolSculpting, the fat cells that are eliminated are gone for good. As long as you maintain your weight, the results are long-lasting.
Some patients are satisfied with the outcome of just one treatment. However, patients often require several treatments. After about a month, you’ll see the difference, but you may begin to see changes as soon as three weeks after treatment. You’ll experience the most dramatic results after one to three months; your body continues to flush out the fat cells for four to six months after treatment.
